Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday commissioned a network of internal roads constructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) at Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, describing the project as a major boost to education and regional development.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the institution in Usen, the governor said the project goes beyond physical infrastructure, noting that it represents improved access, connectivity, safety and opportunity for thousands of students and staff.

“This project is more than asphalt and concrete; it is about access, connectivity, safety and opportunity for those who use this campus daily,” he said.

Okpebholo stressed that road infrastructure within educational institutions is essential for security, mobility and a conducive learning environment. According to him, by investing in the polytechnic, the NDDC is directly contributing to the future of young people and the economic advancement of the Niger Delta region.

He commended the leadership of the commission for prioritising education, infrastructure and human capital development as part of its regional development strategy.

The governor also linked the project to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging students to reciprocate the government’s investment with discipline, focus and academic excellence.

Okpebholo reaffirmed Edo State Government’s commitment to collaborating with federal agencies and development partners to deliver impactful projects that improve lives and accelerate growth across communities.

He formally declared the NDDC-constructed internal road network at the institution commissioned, expressing optimism that the project would serve generations to come.
