Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her commitment to empowering small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), describing the sector as a critical driver of economic growth and sustainable national development.

Speaking during a visit to the palace of the Emir of Hadejia, His Royal Highness Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje, the First Lady announced a N100 million business recapitalisation grant for 2,000 women petty traders across Jigawa State.

Under the initiative, each beneficiary will receive N50,000 to support and expand her business, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s economic participation and improve household incomes.

Mrs. Tinubu said the intervention reflects her continued commitment to supporting grassroots entrepreneurs, particularly women, whose businesses play a vital role in local economies and national development.

As part of her one-day official visit to Jigawa State, the First Lady is also expected to launch the National Community Food Bank Programme for the North-West geopolitical zone.

She will further inaugurate key state government projects, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy and the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic, initiatives aimed at improving access to education and healthcare in the state.
