Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has ordered the Commissioner of Police to recover all state-owned assets and salaries allegedly still in the possession of former Deputy Governor, Marvellous Godwin Omobayo.

The directive, according to the governor, includes the forfeiture of all government properties, vehicles, and funds received by the former deputy governor while in office.

Governor Okpebholo issued the instruction on the sidelines of a youth empowerment programme held across the three senatorial districts of the state on Monday.

He emphasized that his administration would not tolerate the misappropriation or unlawful retention of government assets, warning that public officials must be accountable even after leaving office.

“Government resources belong to the people of Edo State, not individuals. Anyone who has served must hand over all state property immediately,” Okpebholo said.

The governor directed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to ensure immediate compliance with the order and recover all assets in Omobayo’s custody.

As of press time, the former deputy governor had not responded to the directive.
