‘Tinubu Has Stabilised Nigeria’s Economy Despite Hardship’ — Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said President Bola Tinubu’s administration has repositioned Nigeria’s economy through bold economic reforms introduced since assuming office in 2023.

Akpabio spoke on Thursday after leading principal officers of the Senate on an Eid-el-Kabir homage to President Tinubu at his Lagos residence.

According to the Senate President, the visit was to celebrate the Muslim festival with the president, pray for Nigeria and appreciate the administration’s efforts at addressing the country’s economic challenges.

He said despite the current economic hardship being experienced by many Nigerians, Tinubu’s reforms were gradually laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and national growth.

Since taking office, the Tinubu administration has implemented major policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market — reforms the government insists are necessary to stabilise the economy and attract investment.

However, the policies have also triggered rising inflation, high cost of living, increased transportation costs and growing pressure on household incomes across the country.

Akpabio nonetheless maintained that the administration remains committed to rebuilding the economy, expressing confidence that the reforms would eventually produce positive results for Nigerians.

The Senate President also urged Nigerians to continue supporting the government and praying for national peace, unity and economic recovery.
