Foluke Adeboye, wife of Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has opened up about a deeply personal decision she made after embracing Christianity—discarding her gold jewellery as a symbol of spiritual rebirth.
In an interview currently making the rounds online, originally aired on Gold Maker TV, Foluke recounted how her life took a dramatic turn in the early days of her faith journey.
According to her, she once had a strong passion for fashion and adornment, particularly gold jewellery. However, after becoming “born again,” she felt compelled to let go of those attachments as an outward expression of her inner transformation.
She revealed that she threw her gold jewellery into a lagoon, describing the act as a deliberate step of obedience and commitment to her newfound faith.
The cleric explained that the decision marked a turning point, reflecting a shift from material interests to spiritual devotion as she and her husband began laying the foundation of what would later grow into one of the largest Pentecostal churches in the world.
The resurfaced interview has since sparked conversations online about faith, sacrifice, and personal conviction.
