‘You Have Full Permission to Disappoint Others’ — Reno Omokri Urges People to Prioritize Their Own Lives

Former presidential aide and Nigerian Ambassador, Reno Omokri, has urged individuals not to live their lives based on the expectations of others, encouraging people to prioritize their personal purpose and convictions over societal pressure.

In a statement shared on his social media platform, Omokri argued that people should not feel obligated to meet the expectations of others, noting that those same individuals may not be willing or able to satisfy theirs.

“Do not live up to other people’s expectations because they themselves will not live to satisfy your own expectations,” he said.

According to Omokri, individuals should take ownership of their lives rather than allowing the opinions of others to dictate their choices.

“If you are not living your life for yourself, who is going to live their lives for you?” he asked.

The former presidential aide further stated that people should not be afraid of disappointing others, especially when those individuals do not have authority over the direction of their lives.

“Let people be disappointed in you. They did not appoint you, so they have no right to be disappointed in you. As long as the person is not God, you have full permission to disappoint others and appoint yourself,” Omokri added.

His remarks have since sparked conversations online, with supporters and critics offering differing views on balancing personal fulfillment with responsibilities to family, community and society.
