The Osun State Police Command says it has arrested the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, and five other persons in connection with an alleged vote-buying incident in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said police operatives carried out the arrests during an operation in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

According to the police, officers recovered N4.8 million and other materials described as electoral items from a residence allegedly linked to the SSG.

The police said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to investigate allegations of electoral malpractice, adding that further investigations are underway.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no immediate response from Teslim Igbalaye or the Osun State Government regarding the police allegations.

The police have not announced whether formal charges have been filed against the suspects. Investigations into the matter are continuing.
