The internal crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress took a dramatic turn in Delta State.
The political atmosphere in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, assumed a new dimension as Ward 2 executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced the indefinite suspension of Chief Ighoyota Amori and Hon. Christian Onogba, the Executive Chairman of Ethiope West LGA.
The decision followed revelations that both leaders allegedly registered with the APC through an online process without aligning with their wards, an action party executives described as divisive and unconstitutional.
In addition, Chief Amori and Hon. Onogba reportedly convened an unauthorized meeting at the residence of Hon. Onogba, where they purportedly announced the suspension of Hon. Efe Amughoro, the duly elected Chairman of Ethiope West LGA, and his Vice Chairman, Hon. Andrew Eyuren, replacing them with Mr. Oboy and Mr. Arthur Okeh respectively.
Ward executives condemned the move, describing it as an affront to internal democracy and a violation of the APC constitution.
At an emergency meeting held on October 2, 2025, at the residence of Ward 2 Chairman Hon. Happy Wasami, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted:
1. Chief Ighoyota Amori is suspended indefinitely from the APC.
2. Hon. Christian Onogba is suspended indefinitely from the APC.
3. A vote of no confidence is passed on Chief Paulinus Akpeki, the Central Chairman.
The resolutions have been formally communicated to Barr. Khalil Oyabugbe (Ward 2 Leader, APC), Hon. Efe Amughoro (Chairman, Ethiope West LGA), and Chief Paulinus Akpeki (Central Chairman).
This development marks a significant escalation in the internal crisis rocking the party in Delta State, raising questions about unity and stability ahead of future elections.
