The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a statement, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, announced that the submission deadline, originally scheduled to close on Saturday, 11 July 2026, has been extended to midnight on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.
According to the Commission, the extension followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to upload their candidates’ details within the stipulated timeframe.
INEC urged all political parties to take advantage of the additional time to complete the upload of their candidates’ names and personal particulars through the designated portal before the new deadline expires.
The Commission emphasized that no further extension should be expected, encouraging parties to ensure full compliance with the revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 General Election.
