MTN Nigeria has warned subscribers against fake 25GB anniversary giveaway offers circulating online, urging customers to rely only on the telecom company’s official platforms to access the promotion.
The warning was issued through MTN’s support account on X on Saturday amid the circulation of suspicious links and posts claiming to offer subscribers free data as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
MTN specifically cautioned subscribers against clicking on unverified links, disclosing personal information or making payments on platforms claiming to offer the anniversary data bundle.
The company said the official 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available only through the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop.
“Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online.
“The official MTN 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available ONLY via the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop.
“Do not click on links, share your personal information or make payments on any other platform claiming to offer the giveaway.
“Only trust official MTN channels,” the company warned.
In a separate post, MTN explained how eligible subscribers can redeem the offer.
According to the telecommunications company, subscribers should log into the MyMTN App and select “Redeem Now” on the anniversary banner, or access the offer through the MTN eShop.
“To access the 25GB offer, kindly visit the MyMTN App or the MTN E-Shop and follow the prompts to activate the bundle, if you are eligible for the offer,” MTN stated.
The company added that eligible subscribers could also use the link contained in the SMS notification they received regarding the promotion.
MTN further urged customers to verify any information about the anniversary offer through its official communication channels to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
The company also said the free 25GB data bundle would remain valid until 11:59 p.m. on the stated expiry date, advising eligible subscribers to redeem and use the offer within the specified validity period.
The warning comes as several online posts and links purporting to offer free MTN data have surfaced, prompting concerns that unsuspecting subscribers could be deceived into surrendering personal information or making payments to fraudsters.
