Members of the Editorial and Publicity Community Development Service (CDS) Group of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of efforts to promote civic education and electoral awareness among young Nigerians.
The educational outreach, held at the INEC office in Benin City, was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of Nigeria’s electoral process while encouraging active citizenship and informed civic participation.
The corps members were received by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo State, Mr. Obo Effanga, alongside the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Dr. Samuel Onyemachi Sunday.
During the interactive session, the INEC officials educated the visiting corps members on the commission’s responsibilities, the electoral process, voter education, and the importance of civic responsibility in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
The NYSC Editorial and Publicity CDS Group said the visit aligns with its commitment to community development through educational initiatives that foster learning, civic consciousness, and personal development among corps members and the wider public.
The outreach also provided participants with the opportunity to engage directly with electoral officials and gain a better understanding of the role of citizens in ensuring credible and peaceful elections.
