Stakeholders have called for intensified efforts to prevent sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, urging institutions and organisations to strengthen accountability mechanisms and prioritise support for survivors.

The call comes amid growing advocacy for safer workplaces and humanitarian environments where individuals can carry out their duties free from sexual misconduct, intimidation and abuse.

Advocates stressed the need for collective action to address sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, noting that prevention should remain at the centre of efforts to protect vulnerable individuals and promote dignity and respect.

They called for increased investment in survivor-centred services, including confidential reporting mechanisms, psychosocial support and other forms of assistance designed to help affected persons recover and seek justice.

The stakeholders also emphasised the importance of fostering a culture of accountability and zero tolerance for misconduct, urging organisations to ensure that allegations are taken seriously and handled through appropriate procedures.

According to them, creating safer environments requires more than policies on paper, stressing that institutions must translate safeguarding commitments into practical measures that protect individuals and hold perpetrators accountable.

They further encouraged organisations, humanitarian actors, employers and communities to work together to strengthen prevention programmes, raise awareness and ensure that survivors are heard, respected and supported.

“Ending sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment requires collective action,” the advocates said, stressing that sustained commitment is essential to building safer workplaces and humanitarian spaces.

They urged stakeholders to remain committed to prevention, survivor-centred care and accountability, with the ultimate goal of creating environments where every individual is protected from abuse and treated with dignity.
